just one more day, please

Johnny wakes to the sound of a Spring robin’s song,
     alerting him to a new day, or is it?
The word ‘new’ has meanings that may not apply,
     to this little fellow, with the beaten brow and the empty face.
 
Following the morning song comes the dread of wakefulness,
     rapid heartbeats and stomach quakes.
